Our Story — From Princess Cakes to a Gluten-Free Bakery
What started as a small gazebo has grown into a thriving gluten-free bakery, now operating from our own unit and beloved trailer. Whether you’re coeliac, gluten intolerant, vegan, dairy-free — or simply love great food — we’re here to make sure you never miss out on the good stuff.
Our Journey
Belle’s GF Bakes began over 14 years ago as a small cake business, inspired by a little girl and her love of baking.
Our founder, Mel, started creating cakes with her daughter Charlie — who named the business “Belle’s Cakes” after her favourite princess. What began as a passion project alongside work and family life quickly grew into something special.
Life took a turn, and the business paused — but the love for baking never disappeared.
A New Beginning
In 2021, after becoming gluten intolerant, Mel experienced first-hand how limited — and often disappointing — gluten-free options could be.
After losing her father in 2022, she made a life-changing decision:
to build something meaningful, and to create a gluten-free bakery where no one feels left out.
And so, in 2023, Belle’s GF Bakes was born.
From Gazebo to Bakery
The journey restarted with a purple gazebo at local events — quickly gaining a loyal following.
From there:
- 🚐 August 2024: Our trailer “Hattie” launched
- 🥐 October 2024: Savoury range introduced (sausage rolls & Scotch eggs)
- 🥤 2025: Vegan milkshakes, smoothies, and expanded menu
- 🏡 Now: Our very own bakery unit in Huntingdon
What started small has grown into a full gluten-free experience.
A Family Business
Belle’s GF Bakes is proudly family-run.
Paul joined the business in 2025, helping grow and support the vision, while young team members like Molly and Maisy have been part of the journey through their Duke of Edinburgh experience.
